Tis' the Season!

Baby EMM just had her 3 month (milestone) birthday on November 29 and I'm beginning to witness some definite changes. For starters, the evenings are getting A LOT more manageable and it seems that as quick as the colic stage entered our lives, it's now finally on its way out. It's definitely one stage that I will never, EVER miss. Looks like Christmas came early to our house this year! To celebrate, we're getting into the festive spirit one holiday bazaar at time. A few days ago I decided to get a bit of a head-start on holiday shopping and took t he bebe d own to the One of a Kind Show . Last year I was so busy with work that I completely overlooked it, so this year it was nice to get a few hours of browsing time. In its 42nd year (whoa!) it has become a bit of a tradition for many families. Personally I love it because it's the first glimpse of holiday fruit cake. Yes, I'm that weird person that actually likes the stuff. This year didn't disappoint ...

The other "C" word

There's one word in the English dictionary that makes me cringe more than anything...colic. For other parents out there that has survived a colicky baby, I tip my hat to you! You are my heroes. I'm sure you'll agree that reading and hearing about colic will never, ever prepare you for what actually takes place. It is truly something I don't wish upon anyone. Yes, it's that bad! Mayo Clinic defines colic as: a frustrating condition marked by predictable periods of significant distress in an otherwise well-fed, healthy baby . Well, that's putting it mildly. It's a type of frustration you've likely never, ever encountered before. It can truly break you. Let's just say, baby Emm was born with a very well-developed set of lungs. Quiet and subtle are definitely not her style. Just as Hurricane Irma was making her way through the Atlantic coast this past September, our Hurricane Emm was beginning to surface.
