Since being up at all kinds of fun hours in the night, I have come across a variety of blogs. Some really good ones and others...well, not so good. I'm a big fan of blogs that are honest, compelling and beautifully stylized. That is what I hope mon petit chou will become. I read blogs to get inspired and take a brief mental break from reality. We already deal with so much as parents, a blog, in my mind, should be a judgement-free zone. As a new mom, I will be the first to admit that I have made and will more than likely continue to make mistakes, but I don't need a stranger telling me what to do or not do. Support and knowledge is key.
On a professional level I curate art for a living and this blog is meant to be a colourful reflection of my new life as a mom. A sweet baby girl has entered my life and I can't wait to introduce her to all of my favourite things. I have made a conscious promise to myself (and my daughter!) that I will not lose my 'old self'. I may never have the same amount of time to wander around museums and galleries, or spend an afternoon reading a great new novel, however I won't simply just stop doing theses things because I'm a mom.
In the past month and half that Emm and I have gotten to know one another, I can honestly say that she has made me a better person who appreciates life on a whole new level. I love her more than words can ever express but I will not make my every waking moment about her. She deserves more than that and I will try my best to lead by example and show her what it means to be independent, creative and strong. This blog is a collection of all of the things that I love and believe in, which now also include Her. I vow to keep it cool, keep it simple and keep in REAL.
Oh and one last thing...I absolutely ADORE everything French. Oui oui! You'll see little tidbits of French idioms sprinkles throughout this blog and my whole world. Curious to see if Emm will inherit this quirky side of me. Only time will tell...
Plein de bisous!

Thank you for this reminder. Why do mom's feel guilty if we do something for ourselves?
ReplyDeleteExactly Anna! Even though this Mom-guilt is unavoidable (as I'm quickly learning), we need to all take the time to take care of ourselves and not forget who we were before we had our kiddos =)
